Inspiring Dreams: Rebecca Tremblay’s Story
Rebecca Tremblay is Reach Out With Red Rose’s first contest winner! As the author of the winning essay, Red Rose, ONEXONE and free the Children sent Rebecca on a fabulous volunteer vacation in Kenya! Rebecca kept a meticulous blog about her experiences – it’s so well-written and heartfelt that you feel like you are right in the action with her. Kenya, it seems has a way of making you feel many different things all at once.
As Rebecca lays in bed in her first night she reflects on the great divides of wealth “I ended my first full day in Kenya feeling very privileged. We had comfortable beds to sleep in, hot running water to shower in and wonderful meals to eat… While on the road we saw children bathing in puddles. Such different realities.” But there is no doubt that Rebecca experienced nothing short of life changing: “I picked up a beautiful little girl in a worn green dress. We looked each other in the eyes and communicated with smiles.”
Want to enter to win your own volunteer vacation? The winner of the Reach out With Red Rose contest – beginning this April 5th – will be sent on a fabulous trip with Red Rose, ONEXONE and Free the Children to help build schools and work with the children in Africa. Check out all the contest details OR take a look at Rebecca’s winning essay here.
