Amanda’s Lemonade Stand

Good lemonsLooking for a way to spend this beautiful Sunday (May 16th) with your kids, friends or family? How about enjoying a cool glass of lemonade, munching some cookies, meeting sports celebs and supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation all at the same time!? Head to Amanda’s Lemonade Stand from 11-2pm located at 33 Post Road. There will be loads going on – appearances by Dora the Explorer, Pinball Clemons, Dan the Music Man, as well as tasty snacks and pony rides! LEARN MORE!

ALL PROCEEDS are donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in support of the pediatric program at Sick Kids. Not only is the event amazing, but the founder, 12 Amanda Belzowski is an amazing story herself! This year she hopes to raise a total of $200,000 for the foundation! Mark Guilbeault – leader of his very own “Breakfast Club”!

Mark Guilbeault is a second-time kids.now volunteer coach-mentor – who shared his weekly experiences with as a kids.now mentor, online. Just last week, in celebration of National Volunteer Week (April 18 – 24) Mark recieved the first-ever State Farm Good Neighbour Awardpresented by kids.now, in recognition of outstanding volunteer commitment to mentoring Canadian youth. A $25,000 contribution will be made to kids.now by State Farm Canada on behalf of Mark.

Mentoring is really a miraculous thing; while helping a child find his/her confidence and footing, you find your own. And this is exactly what happened to mentor superstar Donna Dow at the KidStart Program. The KidStart Program provides trained and screened adult mentors for children 6 and over. Refereed to as a prevention and diversion program for youth, KidStart aims to develop positive mentoring relationships, with kids who have had difficulties in their lives.

Gary Carleton – A Hero in Gumboots

During a emergency response the Canadian Red Cross experienced this year on Vancouver Island, one volunteer stood out in-particular for Disaster Management Coordinator Elysia Dempsey. Gary Carleton has worked with the Canadian Red Cross for over 4 years and has been described as invaluable, dedicated, instrumental, a strong mentor, and tireless. He is quite a humble fellow – a proud father of two and an IT business owner by day, and a Red Cross hero by night.

Olympic Volunteering
