Kiwanis Club of North York Volunteer Peter

Kiwanis Club of North York

Peter Douglas volunteers his time with the Kiwanis Club of North York. Formed in 1950, the club is part of worldwide Kiwanis International, that has over 300,000 members in over 70 countries. It hopes to help build better communities and help educate and support underprivileged children. The club raises funds through twice monthly Bingos. Members also sell seasonal goods such as Christmas cakes, nuts, shortbread and truffles. Ad hoc fundraisers are also held from time to time. The money raised funds programmes and organizations such as the North York General Hospital Kiwanis “Young Moms and Babies” programme, and the Kiwanis Festivals of Music, Speech Arts and Dance.  In addition, members work with groups that support young children ranging from Youth Assisting Youth annual picnic to helping in the classroom at Yorkwoods Public School.
